BOBBY D. BUCK
Bobby D. Buck, 86 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the La Plata Nursing Home in La Plata, Missouri.
Born January 19, 1927 in Newburg, Missouri, he was the son of Glen and Ruby Irene (Easley) Buck. On June 16, 1951 in La Plata, Missouri, he married Verna Marie Pippin who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Michael Buck and wife Joyce of La Plata, Missouri, Eddie Buck and Barb Engelhard of Kirksville, Missouri, and W.R. "Dub" Buck and wife Barbara of La Plata, Missouri; two daughters, Patricia Lynn Kirkpatrick of Wolfforth, Texas and Bobbi Lou Hamlin of Kirksville, Missouri; life-long friend, Pam Burris of Elmer; one sister, Donna Shelton and husband Bill of Edgerton, Kansas; one sister-in-law June Magers of La Plata; seven grandchildren, Lynnette and Jimmie Kirkpatrick, Emily and Josh Hettinger, Adrienne Hamlin, Wesley and Alisha Buck, Bradley Buck, and Eva Buck; five step-grandchildren, Holly Funk, Carmen Mueller, Paul Aaron Wiseman, Nancy McKenzie-Adams, and SPC Dakota McKenzie; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
His parents, one sister, Irene McIntosh, and one brother, Dillon Magers, preceded him in death.
Bobby lived most all of his life in the Cardy community. He served in the United States Army during WWII He retired from the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway after 42 years on September 29, 1989. Bobby was a member of the First Baptist Church of La Plata, the La Plata American Legion, the V.F.W. in Kirksville, the Brotherhood Maintenance of Ways Employees Local #2402, and a past member of the Royal Order of the Moose in Kirksville.
Bobby was very honored to serve as Grand Marshall of the Soybean Festival Parade in La Plata this past year. He enjoyed dancing and was an avid model car collector and enthusiast. Bobby was always a hard working and devoted family man.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in La Plata, Missouri. Officiating will be Pastor John Gorham and Pastor David Gottman.
Burial with Military Honors will be in the La Plata Cemetery.
