GALENA, KANSAS: Catherine Nadine LaTurner, age 90, passed away Sunday Jan. 20, 2013 at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, MO following an illness.
Catherine was born Feb 17, 1922 in Hiwasse, Arkansas.
Her parents were George Chauncey and Lucille (Woods) McMillan.
She was a lifetime resident of Galena.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Galena, KS.
Her pastimes included cooking, sewing, and reading.
Catherine was married to Paul LaTurner on Oct 28, 1939 in Galena, KS. He passed away Nov 10, 2005.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Rhodes, and Norma Lutz; and one brother Bobby Eugene McMillan.
Surviving is one son, Robert P. "Bob" LaTurner, Galena, KS; one daughter, Judith A. (Jack) Gourley, Galena, KS; 6 grandchildren, Milissa (Steve) Weidman, Marla Gourley, Eric (Vickiey) LaTurner, Jennifer (Jeremy) LaTurner-Watkins, Blake A (Katherine) Hargis, and Michael LaTurner; 6 great-grandchildren, Matthew, Kristen, Haley, Hayden, Macie, Makayla and Kaytlayn , and Paul ; 3 sisters, Louise Lindsey, Galena, KS, Peggy Caperton, Houston, TX and Shirley Keyes, Grove OK; and one special nephew, Chuck (Nancy) Rhodes, Cabot, AR.
The family will receive friends from Noon until 2:00 pm, Friday, January 25, 2013 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, January 25, 2013 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena, KS. Pastor Matt Derfelt will officiate.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
The family will be at the home of the daughter, Judy Gourley, 1203 Amherst, Galena, KS.
