William Law was born Jan. 31, 1841, at Nauvoo, Ill. He spent his early life in Wisconsin, returning later to Chicago, where he practiced law and had charge of the Northwestern Life Assurance Co. for about twenty years. While with this company he was given the honorary title of "Judge" and this is why he was called "Judge Law".
Jan. 9, 1868, he was married to Miss Katherine Zimmerman, daughter of the late H.W. Zimmerman, of Chicago, who with an adopted daughter, Miss Genevieve Law, survive.
Deceased was a member of Ashler Lodge, No. 308, F. and A.M. Chicago and No. 19, K.T. Chicago, also a member of a Chicago lodge of Elka.
Services wer held Monday evening at 8 o'clock from Baitinger & Kingsley's parlors, Rev. L.R. Vercoe officiating, after which the remains were taken by boat to Chicago, with interment at Shullsburg, Wis., where he had expressed a wish to rest beside his parents.
