Eva Celesti Chapman y Higuera was born at Ballona (Palms) on May 19, 1887. She was the daughter of Juan José (John J.) Chapman y Villa and María Higuera y Ruíz. She married Ulysses Harland "Harry" Bennett in September 1928 and was already a widow by February 1929. Eva appears to have grown younger with each passing census. Her California Death Certificate indicates she was born May 19, 1899, yet she appears in the home of her parents as a 13-year-old school student (born May 1887) on the 1900 U.S. Census, and she graduated high school in 1905. After Harry's death she moved into her parent's home at 3739 Overland Avenue. She was still living there with her unmarried sister, Juanita Inez (Jun. 24, 1885-Dec. 21, 1965), when she died on August 4, 1953. She was buried near her husband and parents in Woodlawn Cemetery. Eva and Harry did not have any children.
