BUENA VISTA - Laura Chittum Hartless, 77, died September 27, 1992, in a Lexington hospital. She was born in Rockbridge County October 15, 1914, the daughter of the late James T. and Elizabeth Hostetter Chittum.

Surviving are her husband, Lawrence H. Hartless; four daughters, Geneva Mueller, Pittsburgh, Pa.; Louise Wood and Shirley Ramsey, both of Rockbridge County; Gloria J. DeBerry, Buena Vista; five sons, John M. Flint, Charles W. Flint and Teddy W. Hartless, all of Baltimore, Md.; James W. Flint of Martinsville, Va.; and Henry W. Flint of Buena Vista. Also surviving are three stepchildren, Charles E. Hartless of Cleveland, Ohio; Lawrence and Annie Hartless, both of Rockbridge County; four brothers, Sam Chittum and James Chittum, both of Baltimore; Roy and Grover Chittum, both of Buena Vista; two sisters, Ellen Gianetti of Baltimore; and Florence McKemy of Boonesboro, Md.; thirty-three grandchildren, fifty-one great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 29, 1992, at 3:00 p.m. from the Lomax Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in the Rockbridge Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 at the Lomax Funeral Home.
