Mary Elizabeth Canada, 79, 402 Peterson St., Campbellsville, died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 1987, at the Metzmeier Nursing Home after an extended illness. Mrs. Canada was born in Russell County on May 23, 1908, to the late Johnny Dickens and Annie Reader Dickens. She was a member of the Campbellsville Baptist Temple and was preceded in death by a son, Richard Canada, on Dec. 28, 1926. She is survived by her husband, Robert H. Canada; two sons and one daughter, two brothers and three sisters, Willie and Bernal Dickens and Hattie Bryant, all of Campbellsville, Mattie Spears, Indiana, and Mrs. Verlie Ross, Jamestown; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ivy Dickens. The funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at the Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.
