Verna was born October 4, 1931 in Michigan City, IN to Claude G. and Jeanettie M. (Hare) Shidler, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her children: James L. (Mary Jane) Mayfield of Michigan City, IN, Michael R. Mayfield of Michigan City, IN, Walter D. (Brenda) Calhoon of Plymouth, IN, Carla L. (Dean) Cook of Napoleon MI, Brenda S. Perry of Michigan City, IN and Jerry L. Mayfield of Michigan City, IN; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Mavis Thompson, Roberta Shidler and Marcella "Tootsie" McCray. She was preceded in death by four brothers and 7 sisters and granddaughter: Julie Irene Mayfield.
Verna enjoyed playing cards and had a love of antiques. She enjoyed home decorating. Verna was a lift truck operator at Weil-McClain for over 27 years. Verna was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 12, 2013 from 11:00 to 1:00 PM at Geisen- Carlisle Funeral & Cremation Services, located at 613 Washington St. Michigan City IN 46360.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral & Cremation Services with Pastor Bill Barnes of Faith City Assembly of God officiating. Services will conclude at the funeral home.
