Martin L. Grover, 60, died at his home in Leland at 2:05 PM Sunday following an acute heart attack due to illness since last Tuesday. Funeral services were held from the home at 1:30 PM Wednesday and from the Leland Lutheran Church at 2 PM with the Rev. Walter E. Carlson of the Leland Lutheran Church officiating and Rev. A.J. Gess of the Somonauk Lutheran Church assisting. Burial was in the Leland Cemetery. Martin Grover was born in Leland July 1, 1880, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Newton Grover. He was united in marriage to Edna Olson who preceded him in death a number of years ago. One daughter was born to them. On August 9, 1933, he was married to Amanda Gunther of Somonauk. With the exception of a few years spend in Iowa, he had been a resident of Leland all his life. He was a member of the Leland Lutheran Church and of the following fraternities: Masonic Lodge of Leland, Chapter Lodge of Sandwich, OES of Lelan and the Odd Fellows of Iowa. He was highway commissioner for Adams Township at the time of his death, being appointed to that position at the death of the late George Thompson two years ago. Surviving are his wife, Amanda, one daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Iverson of Waterman, two grandchildren, Marilyn and Keith Iverson of Waterman, stepmother, Mrs. Hattie Grover of Leland and three brothers, William of Chicago; Henry of Sandwich and Amos of Aurora.
