THE REV. WILLIAM A. SPALDING, 77, died Tuesday at Providence Retirement Home in New Albany, Ind. He was a native of Lebanon, a retired pastor who served at various churches, including Christ the King, St. Martin, St. Benedict, SS. Peter & Paul and St. Athanasius Catholic churches, and was a former teacher at the old Flaget High School. Survivors: a brother, Joseph M. Spalding; and sisters, Sarah L. Abell, Florence E. Spalding, Mary A. Schneider, Sister Rita Spalding and Catherine M. Battcher. Funeral: 11 a.m. Friday, St. Athanasius Catholic Church, 5915 Outer Loop. Graveside service: 2 p.m. Friday, St. Augustine Catholic Church Cemetery, Lebanon. Visitation: Ratterman's, 3800 Bardstown Road, 3-9 p.m. Thursday, and at the church after 9 a.m. Friday.
