Hemingway - Carroll Marshall Eaddy, 90, died at home Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at 2 p.m. in Hemingway.

Mr. Eaddy was born in Hemingway on Jan. 30, 1919, and was the son of the late Henry Edward Eaddy Sr. and the late Mary Hutson Eaddy. He was educated in Hemingway public schools and graduated from Clemson University in 1941. He taught agriculture in Indiantown and Hemingway public schools, was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Hemingway American Legion Post No. 84.

He was a member of Hemingway First United Methodist Church, served as a Sunday School teacher and held many offices in the church.

Surviving are his wife, Sara Ann Lynch Eaddy of the home; children, Dr. Winston M. (Janet) Eaddy of Austin, Texas and Carol Ann E. (Larry W) Clark of Calabash, N.C.; grandchildren, Leslie C. (Chad) Dykstra of Placerville, Calif., Suzanne Eaddy of Dallas, Jamison Clark of New York City and Daniel Eaddy of Austin, Texas; great-grandchildren, Caroline and Logan Dykstra of Placerville, Calif.; brother, Warren Hutson (Dot) Eaddy of Murrells Inlet; sisters, Louise E. Jacobs of Georgetown,, Lucia E. McLane and Dell Cuttino, both of Charleston; and brother-in-law, Robert E. Lee of Palo Alto, Calif.

Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 12, in Hemingway First United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will be in Old Johnsonville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hemingway First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 6, Hemingway, SC 29554 or Tidelands Community Hospice, 2591 N. Fraser St., Georgetown, SC 29440.
