He attended rural schools and was graduated from Wilson High School in 1918.
On June 15, 1924, he was united in marriage to Laura Herbel, and to this marriage four sons were born and raised to adulthood.
He lived and farmed in the Wilson community until 1944, when he moved to Wilson, where he continued farming in Russell and Smith Counties, until his retirement in 1965.
Funeral services were held from the Wilson Methodist Church, with Rev. Robert Jeffries officiating. Burial was in the Wilson City Cemetery. Stiles Mortuary handled the arrangements.
