John C. Brode, 81, husband of the late Mrs. Ella Fitzgerald Brode, died yesterday in a Baltimore hospital. He had been ill for over a year. Mr. Brode is survived by two sons, Gerald Brode and John Brode, this city, and two daughters, Mrs. Mary Jo Hoffman and Miss Angela Brode, all of this city, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A native of Hoffman, Mr. Brode was born January I, 1867. He was a son of the late Philip and Mary Brode. He retired 20 years after being stationary engineer for the Queen City Brewing Company. A former city policeman, he was a member of the Holy Name Society of SS. Peter and Paul Church and of the Townsend Club. The body will remain at the home of his son, Gerald Brode, 307 Franklin Street.
