Allison Swope was born October 11, 1841, the son of Moses Swope and Susan Leach. He was one of 10 children born to the couple in Huntingdon County, PA. He was mustered in October 17, 1861. He died at the US General Hospital in Philadelphia on August 12, 1862. He is buried in the Trough Creek Valley Baptist Cemetery in Huntingdon County, PA. From the Huntingdon Journal and American on August 27, 1862: "aged twenty years and nine months. He was in the battle of Fair Oaks before Richmond. Since that time, he fell victim to the typhoid fever was brought to Philadelphia on the 7th of August. His remains were brought home by some of his young friends who visited him from this county."
