February 1941 – Birth. ST. ANTHONY, Feb. 19. Boys were born on February 13 at the Howard maternity home to Mr. and Mrs. Steven Jeppson Porter of Ashton and to Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Ernest Armstrong of St. Anthony. –The Post-Register, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Wednesday, February 19, 1941, Page 7.


December 1960 – Passage. Funeral services for Steven J. Porter, 21 Harvard, will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at the McHan Funeral Chapel.

Mr. Porter died Tuesday in his home at the age of 39. He was a Union Pacific Railroad engineer.

Bishop Cantril Nielsen of the LDS Sixth Ward will conduct the services and burial will be in the Ashton Cemetery.

Mr. Porter was born March 26, 1921 at Ashton, a son of Fred C. and Stella Jeppson Porter. He received his schooling at Ashton and started to work for the Union Pacific Railroad in 1940, moving to Pocatelllo in 1956.

He married Ruth Loveday, Sept. 15, 1938 at Idaho Falls; and is survived besides his wife by two sons, Ronald S. and Richard Bruce, both of Pocatello; his parents of Ashton; a brother, Fred B. Porter, Rigby; four sisters, Mrs. Constance Anderson, American Fork, Utah; Mrs. Gladys Southwick, of Ammon, Idaho, Mrs. Emma Hess and Mae Porter, both of Ashton.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
