Harriet "Hattie" Abrams

Harriet "Hattie" Abrams was born to Elbert Edward Abrams (1833-1898) and Elizabeth Ann Morrison (1838-1914) on January 3, 1871 in Lynbrook, Nassau County, New York. She married Benjamin Clarence "Ben" Amberman in 1888 at Jamaica, Queens, New York. Hattie and Ben had seven children: Leonard Benjamin (1899-1899), Clarence Charles (1890-1949), Lillian Blanche (c1891-c1892), Roy Benjamin (1893-1899), George Elbert (1896-1938), Grace Estelle (1899-1985) and Benjamin Dikers (1911-1978).
During their lifetime together, Ben and Hattie endured the loss of three of their seven children; the loss of their home, which was consumed by fire in East Rockaway. They were heartbroken that pictures of Roy, Lillian, and Len were destroyed. "They were Grand People," per their cousin Betty Abrams. And three days after the birth of Benjamin, Jr. in 1911, Hattie died from childbirth complications. The following was her obituary:
