A, 158th Pennsylvania Infantry (aka "Drafted Militia"). He quickly procured a substitute and honorably discharged from the service November 20, 1862, never having left Chambersburg.
He married Sarah J. Firestone in 1876 and fathered Harvey (b. 11/18/78, d. 02/26/79).

LEVI BRINDLE DIES
Mechanicsburg, Pa., Dec. 31. - The death of Levi Brindle occurred at his home in Monroe township early yesterday morning at the advanced age of 91 years. Mr. Brindle, who followed farming in his early years, lived in that locality practically all his life. Surviving is his wife, who was formerly Sarah Firestine (sic); a brother, William Brindle, and a sister, Mrs. Moses Markley, both of Mechanicsburg. No funeral announcement is made at this time.
