Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Leonard Christian Church in Leonard. Brother Al Hamilton and Brother Jeff Anselmi will officiate. Burial will be at Leonard Cemetery.
Mr. Gander was born March 11, 1910, in Shelby County to Isaac Newton and Virgie Ellen Haun Gander.
He was married to Opal Oaks on May 19, 1928. She survives.
Also surviving are two brothers, Russell Gander of Leonard and Jimmie Gander of Shelbyville; and four sisters, Virginia Baymiller of Shelbina, Geneva Oliver of Clarence, Aldena Shofstall of Covina, California, and Katherine Jones of Macon.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Goldie Gander, Margie Echternacht and an infant sister, Faye Gander; and one brother, Delbert Gander.
Mr. Gander owned and operated a farm at Leonard for many years.
Later he and his wife operated restaurants in Leonard and Bethel. After they moved to Shelbina, he was a carpenter for several years.
Mr. Gander was a member of Leonard Christian Church.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Leonard Cemetery.
