SHELBINA ­ Opal Gander, 89, of Shelbina and formerly of Leonard, died at approximately 10:05 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at Salt River Nursing Home in Shelbina.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, at Leonard Christian Church. The Rev. Jim Bilbro will officiate. Burial will be at Leonard Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of services Tuesday at the church.

Mrs. Gander was born Jan. 8, 1911, in Shelby County to Pierce and Anna Belle Winget Oaks.

She was married to Raymond Gander in May 1927. He preceded her in death April 11, 1999.

Survivors include two sisters, Leone Guarjdo of Brea, California, and Ilene Perrigo of Edina.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Marie Duff; and one infant sister.

Mrs. Gander had worked at restaurants in Leonard and Bethel. She also worked at the Senior Citizens Nutrition Site in Shelbina.

She was a member of Leonard Christian Church.

Memorials may be made to Leonard Cemetery.
