Katharine K. Lewis, age 96, formerly of Verona, Okeechobee, Florida and Camden died Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Oneida Healthcare Extended Care Facility. She was born September 23, 1922 in Verona, NY the daughter of Fred and Katherine Howard Klein. She attended Verona High School. On September 28, 1939 she married Willard A. Lewis in Cohocton, NY by the Rev. Luther B. Scheehl. Willard died April 27, 2011. For many years she assisted her husband in the auction and appraisal business before retiring to Florida for 20 years. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Verona and Peace Lutheran Church Okeechobee, FL. Katharine was a former member and past matron of Eastern Star Vesta Chapter #115, New London.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Willard and Patricia Lewis, Verona, Glenn and Yvonne Lewis, Georgia, and Warren and Karen Lewis, Verona; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Jane and Kent Monson, Springville, UT, Joan Lewis, CA, and Sarah and Carl Finen, Blossvale; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Vivian Ann Lewis and a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Judy Lewis.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Prince-Boyd & Hyatt Home For Funerals, Inc., 210 W. Court St., Rome. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Home For Funerals Friday from 12 to 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
