US Congressman. A lawyer, he graduated from Transylvania College in Lexington, Kentucky, and was admitted to the Kentucky State Bar in 1838. He relocated to Independence, Missouri, and after building a successful law practice was elected in 1856 as a member of the American Party to represent Missouri's 5th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives. He served from 1857 until 1861, and was was not re-nominated for re-election to the seat. he would later serve as a circuit court judge before passing away in 1881.
