Agnes Menning, 81, of Huron, S.D., and formerly of Miller, died Sunday, March 23, 1997 at Huron Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be held Thursday, March 27, 1997 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Miller with the Rev. Marlin Vetter officiating. Burial will be in the G.A.R. Cemetery in Miller. Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening at Reck Funeral Home in Miller.
Agnes Ulmer was born January 8, 1916 at Lesterville, S.D., the daughter of Theodore and Martha (Auch) Ulmer. She grew up in the Lesterville area and later moved with her family to Miller. She married Henry J. Menning January 24, 1934 in Miller. They lived in the Miller area for 30 years. She also has lived in Wessington for four years, Missouri for three years, Texas for three years, back to Miller for 12 years, Pierre for three years and Huron for the past six years. She worked in the kitchen at the Huron Senior Citizen Center for two years.
Survivors include three sons and daughter-in-law, Roger and Sharon Menning of Farwell, Texas, Jerry and Peggy Menning of Pierre, Dennis and Yvonne Menning of Sweet Springs, Mo.; one daughter and son-in-law, Karol and Marvin Palmer of Huron; 23 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren.
She ws preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, one son, six grandchildren, three brothers and two sisters.
Pallbearers will be Robert VanDerWerff, Jay Menning, Dick Menning, Bruce Bennett, Shawn Menning and Jon Buchholtz.
