Charles Clarence Dinsmore, 80, of 107 1/2 Ottumwa Street, retired Ottumwa mortician, died Saturday at 11:50 a.m. at Ottumwa Hospital. He had been hospitalized two weeks following a stroke.
Mr. Dinsmore operated the Community Funeral Service here for 26 years prior to retiring in 1965. He was one of a family of eight children of Hamer and Rachel Dinsmore and was born in Pleasantville, Ohio, on February 13, 1888. He spent his childhood on a farm near Fremont and was married to Mildred Filmore on January 16, 1913 at Fremont.
They lived in Omaha for two years then returned to Fremont. Mr. Dinsmore became a licensed funeral director in 1915, after which he operated a furniture and funeral business in Fremont.
