Ref: Mrs. Naomi C. Thompson was born in Hubbard, Ohio, on the 30th day of Apr. 1825. At the early age of 16 years she united with the Baptist church of Hubbard, Ohio in 1841, and was a most worthy and exemplary member. She was a teacher in the public schools of western Pennsylvania. In Oct. 1854, she was happily united in marriage to David O. Bond, but was left a widow, Dec. 2nd, 1855, with a little son. Feb. 18, 1862, she was married to Mr. J. C. Thompson, her home then being in North Sewickley, Pennsylvania, but in 1865, removed to Iowa locating to Grove Creek, Delaware County. Mr. Thompson died 19 Mar. 1880.

Mrs. Thompson was a most worthy and notable woman, a devoted wife and mother, faithful to all duties, conscientious in all dealings with her family, her neighbors and her God. Death came suddenly to her last Thursday morning, but found her fully prepared for his call. She talked of death and her departure as calmly, cheerfully and hopefully as she was to visit here among her loved friends. How much cause for thankfulness we have in the assurance that our departed one rests now with Jesus, her Savior. During her earthly pilgrimage, she passed through many bereavements and several trials – had many heart-aches, but now "she rests well" having, "come off more than conqueror, through Him that loved us, and gave Himself for us." May we all heed her oft repeated admonitions "to prepare to meet our God." Sweet and pure were her words of council. Bravely calmly, and composedly she passed to the Heavenly land in the 65th year of her age, beloved by all who knew her.
