Ref: 17 April 1899, Hubbard, OH -- The demise of S. P. Cramer came to this community as a terrible shock yesterday afternoon, death resulting from cerebral hemorrhage. Mr. Cramer had not been well for a long time, but had sufficiently recovered to be on the street some and about his business, some of which required him to be up and down the street. At about 6:30 p.m., while in the drug store, he was taken with severe pains in the head, and was at once assisted by his niece, Miss Margaret Cramer, into the dwelling which adjoins the store and a doctor summoned. He became unconscious and remained so until the end came, at 2:45 o'clock yesterday afternoon, when he passed away, surrounded by his wife, and sister, Mrs. J. C. Gilchrist, Miss Margaret Cramer, Miss Kate Hall and the family of Dr. James McMurray.

Mr. Cramer was born in East Hubbard on September 1, 1837, hence was nearly 62 years of age. He has resided all his life here, and in 1862 was united in marriage to Miss Nancy Mitchell. She died in 1870, leaving an infant son who survived his mother only a few weeks. June 3, 1873, he married Miss S. E. Hall, who survives him. The fruit of this union was one daughter, who died in infancy.

Samuel received a good education in the Hubbard high school and in the North Sewickley academy, under the supervision of his brother-in-law, Professor J. C. Gilchrist, and in his younger days followed the profession of teaching. He studied pharmacy, and about 30 years ago opened a drug store here, in which he has been interested and personally superintended ever since. Mr. Cramer was a Christian gentleman of the highest integrity, having at the age of 16 years united with the Baptist Church, with which he has since been identified, being for 30 years a Deacon in the church and for many years its Sunday School superintendent. The church has lost a substantial pillar, the community a loyal citizen, and the family a loving, faithful husband, father and brother. He was ready at all times to do his duty. He is survived by his wife and a niece, Miss Margaret Cramer, who was loved as a daughter by him, having entered the family shortly after the death of his infant daughter; also by four brothers and three sisters -- A. K. of Cleveland, J. P. and J. H. of Hopkinton, Iowa; A. W. of Monticello, Iowa, Miss Matilda of Mason City, Iowa, Mrs. J. C. Gilchrist of Laurens, Iowa and Mrs. E. Corll of Hadley, PA.

The funeral services will be held at the Baptist church tomorrow at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev.. H. G. Bond, assisted by the other ministers of the town. Interment in Oakland Cemetery - wrong - Hubbard Union Cem.
