Former rural Waseca resident Emil H. Groskreutz, 92, of New Richland, died Saturday, July 31, at New Richland Care Center. Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 3, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells, the Rev. Philip Lewison officiating. Burial is in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Vivian Township, Waseca County.
Mr. Groskreutz was born January 31, 1901, to Otto and Emma (Putz) Groskreutz in Vivian Township. He married Amanda Tolzmann on June 6, 1933, in Minnesota Lake Township, Faribault County. They farmed in Vivian Township for many years before retiring in 1972. He had lived at Country Neighbors in New Richland since September 1990. He was a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Vivian Township and a church secretary for 38 years.
He is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Ardean and George Klampe of Waseca and Eileen and Clarence Battey of New Richland; a brother, Louis Groskreutz of Wells; seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1982, three infant sons, a brother, a sister and two grandchildren.
