Services For E. C. Groskreutz At Wells
Edward C. Groskreutz, 89, rural Wells died Monday, February 20 at Good Samaritan Care Center, Albert Lea, where he had been a resident since June 1988.
Services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Vivian Township, Waseca County with the Rev. Ray Arveson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Groskreutz was born in Vivian Township, Waseca County, September 29, 1899, the son of Otto Groskreutz and his wife, Emma Putz.
On October 3, 1930, he married Lydia Patzoldt in Julesberg, Colorado.
A lifelong resident and farmer in Vivian Township, he was a former member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church council.
Survivors include a son, John, a resident of the St. Cloud Veterans' Home, and his wife, Betty of Wells; a daughter, Mrs. Elmer (Caroline) Tatge of Wells; two brothers, Emil or Waseca and Louis of Wells; a sister, Mrs. Elmer (Lena) Skinner of Rosemount; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his wife in 1967 and a grand-daughter, Mary Jean, in 1965.
Visitation was from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, February 22 and one hour before services at the church.
