Arie Baartman of Middleburg Dies Tuesday Morning
Arie Baartman was born June 13, 1878 in South Holland. Ill., son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Baartman. His family moved to Sioux County when he was 11. After a few years they returned to the Orange City vicinity to make their home. He was united in marriage to Gertie Sneller, August 18, 1902.
To this union were born five children, Elizabeth (Mrs. Jerry De Raad) of Boyden, Edward of Leota, Minn., Peter of Decatur, Mich., William of Orange City and Jeanette (Mrs. Art Thomassen) of Sheldon, 13 grand children.
One grandson, Stanley Baartman preceded thim in death. One sister Anna, (Mrs. Johannes Van Oort) of Orange City and one brother Peter Baartman Sr. of Boyden also survive.
Brothers and sisters preceding him in death were Herman, Cora (Mrs. Lane Lems), Mary (Mrs. Lane Moret), Elizabeth (Mrs. John Doppenburg), Tillie (Mrs. John Van Zee) and Willie at the age of one.
Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 P.M. at the Grace Reformed Church at Middleburg. Burial in the Middleburg cemetery.
