Tena's parents were Lemon B. Batchelor and Nancy Jane Edgar. She had two sisters: Fannie Alabama Jane Batchelor (married Samuel Baker Pincham) and Nora Battle Batchelor (married Francis "Frank" Marion Taylor).

Tena was married to James A. King on 26 May 1889. They had one child, a daughter named Lucy Jane King, who was memorialized on Christina's gravestone.

Lucy Jane was born and died prior to 1900; Tena reported to the 1900 census taker one child born, none living. Lucy's dates of birth and death and her burial place are thus far unknown. Lucy Jane was named for Tena's husband's mother (Lucy Harrison) and for Tena's own mother (Jane Edgar).

She was a schoolteacher in both cities (high school and junior high school) and was an assistant principal in Port Arthur for awhile. She was noted in U.S. Directories in Port Arthur (1911, 1913, 1914) and in Fort Worth (1918, 1922, 1925, 1930, and 1931).

After retiring from teachinig, Tena stayed in Ft. Worth and lived there for the remainder of her life. She cared for her widowed and aging mother. Jane was living with Tena in Ft. Worth when she died.

Tena's grave is adjacent to her husband's large Woodmen of the World monument as shown in the first photo. Close up photos of his monument are on his memorial page.

On the other side of Tena's grave is her mother's grave.
