Ernest Bringmann Chilton Times January 8, 1927

The community was greatly shocked to learn that Ernst Bringmann had passed away at his home in Gravesville in the afternoon on New Year's Day. Although not in rugged health for some time Mr. Bringmann was able to be up and about and attend to his affairs. On Monday of the previous week he was in the city to attended the funeral of Frank Winkler, Sr., an old friend of the family. The following day he complained of a cold and shortly after pneumonia and pleurisy set in and he failed rapidly until the final summons came. He is the third member of the Bringmann family to die within the past twenty-one months, his brother Frederick of this city and William of Gravesville preceded him in death.
Ernest Bringmann, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Bringmann, Sr., pioneers of the town of Rantoul, was born in that town on Feb. 15, 1862. He spent his boyhood and young manhood on the homestead farm assisting in its operation. In 1885 he purchased a farm in the town of Charlestown which he operated until 1900, then sold it and returned to the old home. In 1918 the homestead farm was sold and he with his brother, William and sister, Miss Augusta, purchased the Stephenson residence in Gravesville and moved into the same. They were known for their hospitality, always keeping open house for relatives and friends whom they seemed delighted to entertain in their cordial, gracious manner.
Ernest Bringmann was the last of the brothers of the household, all splendid men and an honor to the community in which they spent their lives. He was always a gentleman in the true sense of the term. Kind of heart, loyal to his friends, true to his convictions and devoted to brothers and sisters, he commanded the respect of all whose lived came in contact with his.
He is survived by six sisters, Mrs. John Jesse of Mattoon, Mrs. Amelia Reiss of Gravesville, Mrs. Henry F. Pingel of Stockbridge town, Mrs. J. M. Crawford of Chilton, Miss Augusta Bringmann of Gravesville and Mrs. Claus Thiel of Brillion.
