Jennie was born July 1, 1930 in Corning, Kansas the daughter of Percy W. and Bessie V. (Clark) Mack. She graduated from Manhattan High School in 1947. She was the receptionist at Belmont Funeral Home in Chicago and later worked at the V.A. Hospital in Loma Linda, CA for many years. She was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Topeka. In 1947 Jennie married Doyle Hickman. The couple later divorced. In 1970 she married Howard Barnes. He preceded her in death in 2003. She was also preceded in death by her son Doyle F. Hickman in 1978, her sisters, Wilma Brenner and Jessie Mack and her brother Wilbur Mack.
Jennie is survived by her son, Troy Hickman and his wife Linda of Topeka, KS; her sisters, Colleen Petrarca of Hemet, CA and Mary Quaglieri of Hobe Sound, FL; her 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday December 12, 2012 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be at the Onaga Cemetery.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to services beginning at 12:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to SPCA and left in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton 66436.
