SERVICES FOR JESSE T. ALLEN
The funeral services for the late Jesse T. Allen, 70 years of age, who passed from this life at his home in Guymon on Tuesday August 24 were held at 6:00 p.m., at the Christian Church, Rev. J. M. Smith, the pastor conducting, bringing a message of comfort and courage. He stressed the faith of the deceased, his courage to meet the conditions of life, as a loving father and friend to others, and his outstretched hand to help when needed. A service of song was given by a mixed quartette, Mrs. Vera Spradling, Mr. and Mrs. F. Judah and Richard Shields, with Miss Mariella Curtis at the piano. The familiar songs, "Sweet Bye and Bye," "Rock of Ages" and "Nearer My God to Thee" were beautiful in the twilight service, and in keeping with his sturdy character. Mr. and Mrs. Allen homesteaded in the Eula neighborhood north of Guymon, and Mrs. Allen passed away in 1936. Their children, all well known in Guymon where they spent most of their youth are, Jesse Leon, Mattie Pearl, Henry Clay, Claude Hagin, Lloyd William, Bessie Mozelle and Margaret Ruth. Besides, he is survived by thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren, three brothers and two sisters. Mr. Allen was married to Lovie Wilson, December 28, at El Reno, Oklahoma, who survives him. Pall bearers were Homer Long, Orville Clem, Glenn Rainey, T. F. Wright, Joe Dean and W. L. Usrey, and the remains were laid to rest in the Guymon Elmhurst Cemetery under the supervision of the Moore Mortuary.
