Wamyth Frances Geasland

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Wamyth F. Geasland, 87, of Springfield, Mo., and a former Parsons resident, died at 5:15 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at the Springfield Rehabilitation Center in Springfield.
She was born on March 2, 1925, near Columbus to John and Frances (Sales) Crain. She grew up near Columbus and attended country and Columbus schools, graduating from Columbus High School. She briefly taught at a country school.
She married William "Lee" Geasland on Sept. 3, 1943, at Caney. He preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 2003.
They lived in Tulsa for several years until her husband enlisted in the Air Force. They then lived in various places throughout the world while her husband served in the Air Force.
They moved in 1969 to Parsons, where Wamyth worked at a clothing store and at Olson's Ace Hardware for several years until her retirement. She moved to Springfield in 2005.
She was an active and faithful member of First Baptist Church in Parsons, where she taught Sunday school classes, served on various committees and served as a church trustee. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed flower gardening.
Wamyth is survived by her son, Dick Geasland and his wife, Carol, of Phoenix; her daughter, LeaEllen Whitman of Springfield, Mo.; two grandchildren, Shannon Marino and her husband, Jim, and Chad Whitman, all of Tomball, Texas; a great-grandson, Nicholas Marino of Tomball, Texas; and a brother, Harlin Crain and his wife, Lois, of Pittsburg.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by six sisters, two brothers and her son-in-law.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Memorial Lawn Cemetery Patio with burial following. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church or to the Stella Wells Christmas Baskets and these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, 112 N. 26th St., P.O. Box 942, Parsons, 67357.
