Pioneer Ranch Man Dies Here
Frank Simpson Rites Set Wednesday

"Following an illness of several weeks, Frank W. Simpson, sixty-six year old native of Smith Valley and one of the state's best known ranchers, died last night at a local hospital where he was taken a few days ago.

Born on his father's Desert Creek Ranch in Smith Valley, December 11, 1873, when Smith Valley was part of Esmeralda County, Mr. Simpson received his early education in the schools of that district, and after spending a year at a business college at Stockton, he returned to Nevada to engage in the ranching and livestock business, on the same ranch that his father, the late Dniel C. Simpson located in the early seventies.

Frank Simpson in addition to the home ranch which is one of the best known ranches in Lyon County, had extensive land interests in Mono County and Antelope Valley. He was engaged in both the sheep and cattle business and specialized in Rambouillet sheep. He served as director of the Walker River Irrigation District for 12 years and took an active and prominent part in the affairs of Lyon County for nearly half a century.

He married in Carson City May Irene Blackwell, who survives. He also leaves a daughter, Mary D. Simpson of Reno; two sisters, Mrs. Clara B. Harris of Reno and Mrs. Ethel Stickney of Colleville, Calif., and three brothers, J. W. Simpson of Riverside, Calif., L. C. Simpson of Oakland, Calif., and George S. Simpson of Dixon, Calif., and two grandchildren, Mary Lee Simpson and Sonja Jean Simpson.

He was active in fraternal circles, being a member of Hope Lodge # 22 F. and A. M. of Yerington, Scottish Rite Bodies of Nevada, the Kerak Temple of the Mystic Shrine and Reno Lodge # 597 B. P. O E.

Friends are invited to attend funeral services to be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock in the Community Hall at Smith Valley. Rev. Brewster Adams will conduct the services and interment will be in Smith Valley Cemetery."
