Jim worked at Robinson-Nugent, Inc., in New Albany, IN for 25 years in various engineering positions and ultimately became the president and chief executive officer. He was owner and president of Clark's Snacks in New Albany for the last 20 years with his family working at his side. A longtime member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Bradford, IN, Jim loved fishing in Florida and enjoyed hunting. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Jim was the epitome of a strong work ethic, trust and integrity, humility, and loyalty to his family, friends, and co-workers.
Jim was born on October 9, 1943 in San Antonio, TX to the late Richmond E. and Josephine T. (Polito) Jones. Married on May 11, 1968, he is survived by his loving wife, Linda Kay (Ems) Jones; children, Jennifer Shelton (Raymond), Kelly Thompson (Michael), Ryan Jones and Megan Heier (Niles); sisters, Judy Nelson (Phil), Janice Chipps (Geoff), and Joanne Jones; brother, Chris Jones (Ann); grandchildren, Ethan and Anna Shelton, Cole and Finn Thompson, and soon-to-be-born Baby Heier; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael Catholic Church, 11400 Farmers Lane Northeast, Bradford, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
