Sidney Times March 29, 1912 page 1
Mrs. Lucinda Wood was called to rest Wednesday and she will be greatly missed as she was a loving mother and sister.
Lucinda Angeline Peters was born July 1, 1851 near Mayview, Ill., and departed this life March 20, 1912 at her home near St. Joseph, her age being 53 years, 8 months and 19 days. She was the third child of Isaac and Minerva Peters both of whom have preceded her to the better world.
The first few years of her life was spent at the place of her birth, but a mere child she with her parents moved to Iowa, and later returned to Illinois, residing near old St. Joe. While there she united with M. E. church of that place and later she transferred her allegiance to the Christian church at Pleasant Grove. She had lived a consistent Christian life ever since, always ready to sacrifice herself for the comfort of others. The last few years of her life have been filled with sorrow and trouble which she has born with wonderful patience. During her recent sickness she remained hopeful to the last. All that medical science could do was done, but all to no avail, the call had come and must be answered.
She was united in marriage to henry Wood of St. Joseph, Ill. Feb. 6, 1876. To this union eleven children were born.
She was preceded to that glory land by a husband and three children. The former departed this life October 23, 1910 and the latter two died in infancy and Isaac Lloyd was called August 2, 1908, at the age of 18.
She leaves to mourn her loss a daughter and seven sons, the daughter being Mrs. Maude Lindley of this place, Willis, Delmar, Otto and Erven also of this place, Clarence Walter of Roanoke, Ind., Norman Vernon of St. Joe all being married except three at home who are John Wesley, Roscoe Ray and Carlos Alvah besides a host of relatives and friends.
