Bro. Joseph A. Carrico, 88, of Russellville, died Wednesday at the Hospice House in Bowling Green.
He was a Graves County native and was a member of Clear Fork Baptist Church in Rockfield. He served as pastor of Post Oak Baptist Church for 40 years and founded Calvary Chapel, where he was currently ministering.
He also broadcast the Carrico Ministries on local radio. He founded Toys for Tots in Logan County in 1954, was a board member of BRADD for 30 years, served on the Russellville Electric Plant Board, served as chaplain of ResCare for the State of Kentucky, and worked for the Agape Foundation. He was a board member of the heart association. He was a World War II Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Croft Carrico; a stepdaughter, Ashley Gibbons of Rockfield; two granddaughters, Katlyn and Kristin Gibbons, both of Rockfield; two stepsons, Richie Young of Bowling Green and Chris Young of Russellville; a brother, Rudy "Buck" Carrico of Cincinnati; two sisters, Allie Jean Elliott of Fancy Farm and Mary Willett of Jackson, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Renee Carrico. His parents were Bernard Carrico and Ada Elliott Carrico.
Services will be conducted at noon Saturday at Post Oak Baptist Church with Bro. David Daugherty, Bro. Richard Oldham and Bro. Lon Sosh officiating, with burial in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Visitation at Post Oak Baptist Church will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. Summers, Kirby and Sanders Funeral Home in Russellville is in charge of arrangements.
