Son of W.N. and Eleanor Royall Hutton Blake, of Roodekop.

Lieutenant Blake joined the Royal Flying Corps in August 1917. Between May and July 1918, whilst flying a Sopwith Dolphin, he shot down five German aircraft. He returned to South Africa after the Armistice and joined the S.A.A.F., but was killed when his DH9 was caught in a whirlwind at Dealsville, in the Orange Free State.

N.B. Henry Hutton Blake is buried in the Shorncliffe Military Cemetery, near Folkestone in Kent, England.
