Judith Ann Allen, 71, passed away peacefully on Jan. 8, 2008, ending a long journey through Alzheimer's. She was born on August 1, 1936 in Youngstown, Ohio to Robert B. and Jane Howe Allen.

Her early years were spent in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Journalism. She then moved to California to begin a career in Advertising, rising to the position of Account Executive. She was a long time resident of Rolling Hills Estates, CA.

Judy's great passion in life involved traveling extensively in France and Italy. She studied the languages, art, history, culture and cuisine. She booked her lodging and train schedules independently and traveled solo throughout those countries. Although Paris was a personal favorite, she particularly enjoyed the smaller, undiscovered villages of Italy. She became a great chef through her travels.

In her retirement years, she enjoyed developing recipes for the Trader Joe's market chain. She also studied photography extensively, and captured the beauty of the scenery and people through her lens.

She is survived by her sister Joan Allen Ackermann (husband Robert, sons Jeffrey and Kenneth) of Simi Valley, California; and her brother Robert B. Allen, Jr. (wife Stella, children Jacqueline and Christopher) of Salt Lake City.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Reminiscence Room of Brighton Gardens in Camarillo as well as Vitas Hospice for their excellent care during her stay.

Funeral services will be private.
