Gail Lionel Zink

Gail Zink, 89, of Nampa, died on Wednesday, June 28, 2000, at a Nampa hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 3, at the Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa. Pastor Norm Spann, a son-in-law, will officiate. Burial will follow at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.

Gail was born on May 6, 1911, in Naper, Nebraska, the son of Royal and Vera Zink. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Naper High School in 1929. He married Albina Stroh on February 27, 1936, in Butte, Nebraska. Shortly after their union, they left the dust of the Midwest and moved to the lush, green, fertile Treasure Valley, living the majority of their remaining lives in the Scism Community. Gail's lifelong vocation was farming. Gail's retirement years were spent at Green Acres Mobile Park, where he managed the park for a
number of years.

Gail is survived by seven children, Marlene and Norm Spann, Renton, WA, Sharon and Denton Cash, Wauchula, FL, Duree and Dave Allen, Nampa, Vickie and Ivan Fisk, Meridian. Rick and Judy Zink, Boise, Michael and Eileen
Zink, Boise and Renee and Terry Stewart, Nampa; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; a brother, Basil and Myrle Zink, Hagerman, ID; three sisters, Lila Liewer, Butte, NE, Mildred and Lawrence Lechtenberg, Butte, NE and Elaine Bjorklund, Moses Lake, WA.

Gail was preceded in death by his wife, Albina; his parents; three brothers; a sister; and two grandsons.

Friends may call at the Alsip Funeral Chapel on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m.

The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. McRill and the Mercy Medical Center staff for the loving care given to Dad during this difficult time, as well as the staff of Nampa Care and Clearwater Assisted Living Center.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Mercy Medical Center Meals on Wheels, 1512 12th Ave. Road, Nampa 83686.
