Services for Allen L. Zink, 68, of Nampa, who died Sunday, May 3, at his home of natural causes, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Alsip Funeral Chapel.
The Rev. Jim Chandler Jr., pastor of the Nampa Community Church of God, will officiate. Burial with mililary graveside rites by the Nampa American Legion, Joseph H. Murray Post No. 18 will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Zink was born Nov. 20, 1918, at Naper, Neb., to Hawley and Vera Thibault Zink. He was reared and educated in Naper. After his schooling he farmed and started in the carpentry business. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served during World War II.
He married Geraldine Walthoff in 1943 at Valentine, Neb., and he was stationed in Utah. He was discharged in 1946 and they moved to South Dakota where he continued farming and construction work. He later moved to Nampa.
He married Beulah "Boots" Horner April 25, 1963, at Wells, Nev., and they made their home in Nampa. They had just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. Mr. Zink worked for Western Block in Nampa for several years. He retired in 1979 and they had resided in Nampa since.
He was a member of the Nampa B.P.O.E. No. 1389 and a member of the American Legion, Joseph H. Murray Post No. 18.
He is survived by his wife of Nampa; a son, Terrance Allan Zink of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two daughters, Janet Elaine Miller of Winner S.D., and Charyl Ann Loman of Cabool, Mo.; three brothers, Gail L. Zink of Nampa, Wayne L. Zink of Naper, and Basil Zink of Haggerman; three sisters, Lila Mae Liewer and Mildred Bernice Lechtenberg, both of Butte, Neb., and Elaine Violet Bjorklund of Moses Lake, Wash.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Lillie, and a brother, Royal.
Friends may call at the Alsip Funeral Chapel today until 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
