Born April 24, 1929, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. Stitt, Helen A. (Swanger) Deeg, and stepfather William Deeg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Chelsey.
Miriam is survived by; her husband, Louis M. "Jack" Hale, whom she married on Aug. 24, 1946, they shared 71 years of marriage; children, Raynae A. Leeper, of Garretsville, Ohio, Jack M. Hale and wife, Vickie, of Ocean Isle, N.C.; grandchildren, Douglas and Timothy Leeper, Ryan Hale, Brandy McCall; great-grandchildren, Christopher Ashley, Michael, Matthew, Nicholas, Kendrick, Macy and Brandon; and two great-great grandchildren.
She was a member of the Rhodes Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was very active and taught Bible school for many years. Earlier in life, she enjoyed being a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and was employed at G.C. Murphy's Deptartment Store.
A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m., Thursday, June 28, 2018, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., at the funeral home, with the Rev. Thomas Morningstar officiating.
Interment will be held at Juniata Memorial Park.
