Louis M. "Jack" Hale, 95, of Lewistown, passed away at 9:32 a.m., Monday, Sept. 5, 2022, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born Dec. 19, 1926, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Newton M. and Ellavesta "Betty" (Jones) Hale.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Miriam E. (Stitt) Hale, whom he married Aug. 24, 1946, on June 24, 2018; brothers, Raymond N., Richard D., and Basil W. Hale; and a great-granddaughter, Chelsey Leeper.

Jack is survived by: daughter, Raynae A. Leeper, of Garretsville, Ohio; son, Jack M. Hale and wife, Vickie, of Ocean Isle, N.C.; four grandchildren, Douglas and Timothy Leeper, Ryan Hale, and Brandy McCall; eight great-grandchildren, Christopher, Ashley, Michael, Matthew, Nicholas, Kendrick, Masie and Brennen; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from Aug. 1944 to June 1946, aboard the U.S.S. Duncan in the Pacific Theatre, attaining the rank of Coxswain.

Prior to entering the Navy, he was employed at the American Viscose Corporation. He later retired from the Ring Mill at Standard Steel Corporation and worked part-time at Lash Motors.

Jack was a member of Rhodes Memorial United Methodist Church.

A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday, Sept. 12, 2022, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, 108 First Avenue, Burnham, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m., with Rev. Thomas Morningstar officiating.

Interment will take place at Juniata Memorial Park, with military honors provided by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Louis' memory to Rhodes Memorial UMC, 500 Highland Ave., Lewistown, PA 17044.
