Ms. Whitman passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at the Lineville Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was a native of Clay County and a former resident of Talladega and Anniston. A retired textile worker, Ms. Whitman had been employed at Bemis Manufacturing and Anniston Manufacturing for over 35 years, had attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church (North) and enjoyed growing vegetables in her garden.
She is survived by one son, Roger Whitman (Jo) and one brother, L. D. "Jack" Harris (Bonnie), both of Lineville; two granddaughters: Becky Roberts (Michael) of Roopville, GA and Sara Moore (Nathan) of Lineville and three great-grandchildren: Paige Moore, Laurel Roberts and Jayden Roberts
Ms. Whitman was preceded in death by her parents: Jessie Parker Harris and Margaret Hanner Harris; one son, Tommie Whitman; one granddaughter, Susan Rena Whitman and one grandson, Russ Whitman; two sisters: Clessie Vickers and Pauline Helton and several half-sisters and half-brothers.
Pallbearers will be Fred Harris, Joe Harris, Danny Harris, Michael Roberts, Nathan Moore and James Forbus. Staff of the Lineville Health and Rehabilitation Center will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M. and until service time on Wednesday.
