DEATH OF GOTLIEB ABRAHAM

Mr. Gotlieb Abraham, one of the early pioneers and a man highly respected, passed away Friday last at his home near Smiths Mill. He had been ailing for a year or so and was in feeble health, but able to attend to duties of a light nature. On Thursday he was around and performed his usual work. He was taken ill Friday morning and died Friday evening.

The deceased was a native of Prussia and was born on Dec. 11th, 1841. He was 76 years, 3 months and 8 days old. He came to this country when 24 years of age, settling in Illinois, where he resided one year, when he came to Minnesota, settling on the farm where he died and which place was his home during all the long years that followed his removal from Illinois. He was a honest, conscientious man, and always had the respect and confidence of his associates.

He was the father of eleven children, ten of whom survive him: Herman, of Wheaton, Louis, of Dent; Emil and John, of this county, Gust, of Blue Earth County; Mrs. Frank Grunske, of Minnesota Lake; Mrs. Herman Dittenbernner, of Pemberton; Mrs. Henry Gagler, of St. Clair; Miss Tillie, who resides at home and a married daughter at Mankato whose name was not supplied.

The funeral was conducted Monday afternoon at the German Lutheran Church, Smiths Mill, Rev. W. C. Nickles, officiating. The remains were interred in the Janesville cemetery.
