Carl E. Wright, 72, of 7884 Aeropagitica Ave., Bridgeport, died last night in the Veterans Administration Hospital, Syracuse, after a long illness.
Mr. Wright retired from Carrier Corp. in Syracuse after 29 years. He was a security guard.
Mr. Wright was a native Syracusan and lived here most of his life. He moved to Bridgeport in recent years. He served in World War II. He was a member of Bridgeport United Methodist Church.
Mr. Wright was a member of Simon Parise Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Collamer.
Surviving are his wife, Vernice Coe Wright; two sons, Carl Jr. of Fulton and Joseph of Norfolk, Va.; three brothers, H. Kasson Wright of Fayetteville, Galen of Syracuse and Elmer Wright of Otisco; a sister, Myrtle Robinson of Manlius; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Traub Funeral Home, Bridgeport. Burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens, Dewitt.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. Contributions may be made to Bridgeport Fire Department ambulance fund.
