OTTO KOMRS CROSSES THE RIVER
Otto Komrs was born in Wisconsin December 18, 1873. In 1882 he came with his parents to Saline County, Nebraska, and in 1884 the family moved to Thayer County and settled on a farm near Gilead where he lived until 1885, when he moved to Gilead and afterwards entered the mercantile (grocery) business in which he continued until three years ago when he resigned on account of failing health. He has been a great sufferer for several years and passed through several seasons of severe pain and suffering.
A few days before his death his pain seemed to have left him and fearing a change, made preparations for that change. Rev. M.C. Brooks of Hebron was called who baptized him and his three small children. He seemed prepared to go and met every requirement necessary to meet his reward.
He died Sunday, July 12, 1908 at 9 o'clock in the evening.
In April,he married Miss Ida Messing and by her had three children all of whom survive him.
He was a good man. All that can be summed up in these five words can be said of Otto Komrs, and the entire community bow to do him honor, and extend their heartfelt sympathy.
The funeral was held from the house in Gilead, Monday afternoon conducted by the Rev. M. Brooks and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery near the village.
Mr. Komrs children were Pauline, Marguerite and Elmer.
Otto's parents were Frank and Wilhieme (Rosicky) Komrs

Otto was a full blood Bohemian.
