Obituary for Valasta Huffman--
Mrs. W.A. (Valasta) Huffman was born October 6,1879 at Boscobel, Wis., the daughter of Frank and Wilhemna Komrs. She was married to W.A. Huffman on March 2,1900, at Gilead, Neb., They came to Clark County in 1910 and farmed west of Clark until 1945 when they retired and moved into Clark.
Mrs. Huffman was a member of the Plymouth Congregational Church at Clark, the Rebekah and Eastern Star Lodges, and the M B Extension Club.
Survivors include 2 sons, Charles J. of Harrisburg and Albert W. of Whittier, CA; 3 daughters, Mrs. Linda Kitterman of Clark, Mrs Doyle (Bessie) Berry of Piecot Riveria, Calif., and Mrs Ray (Frances) Huff of Whittier, CAlif.; one brother, Jerry Komrs of Billings, Mont.; and 16 grandchildren and 52 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a daughter, two sons, three brothers, and two sisters.
NOTE- Grandma did not know her birth date. Her mother had told her that she was born during harvest and with a large family she was so busy that she did not remember the exact day. Grandma's date of October 6th was chosen later in life. ( In the 1900 US Census taken in Thayer Co. Nebraska she gave her birth month of Sept in 1879. I feel that was closer to the actual month as that is more harvest time in Wisconsin rather than Oct. She was 20 years old in 1900 and could probably remember better what her mother had said rather than rely of her memory when she was elderly.)
