Quince Kimes of Elgin
1926-2004

Quince G. Kimes, 78, of Elgin died May 2 at a local care center. A private family service will be held.

Mr. Kimes was born March 25, 1926, to Joseph L. and Edith L. Boyd Kimes in Van Buren, Ark. He attended school in Porterville, Calif., and served in the Army during World War II, and married Patricia A. Miller on May 19, 1950, in Vancouver, Wash. He worked as a metal fabricator, and the couple moved to Elgin in 2000. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and other outdoor activities, including agate hunting at the Oregon Coast.

Survivors include his wife of Elgin; children, and their spouses, Michael and Patricia Ann Kimes of Redlands, Calif., Kenneth and Lucinda Kimes of Oregon City, and Cynthia and Larry Rea of Elgin; a brother, and his wife, Lucas and Virginia Kimes of Seattle, and a sister, Virginia Pierce of Salem; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and other relatives. A brother, Neuman Kimes and a sister, Bernice Graham, died earlier.

Memorials may be made to any charity in care of Loveland Funeral Chapel, 1508 Fourth St.
