Mrs. Mary Shimunek, 631 East Orchard street, died Monday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Joseph hospital, Highland. She was born Jan. 2, 1899 in Bohemia, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Sedlacek Slemmer, and had reached the age of 55 years, one month and 29 days.
She was married June 16, 1917 in Edwardsville to Anton Shimunek, who survives.
She is also survived by two sons, Carl J. and Anton J., both of Edwardsville, one brother, Frank Slemmer of St. Louis, seven sisters, Mrs. Josephine Ontko of Glen Crossing, Mrs. Rudolph (Anna) Baca of St. Louis, Mrs. Maurice (Lena) Sickbert, Mrs. Ronald (Barbara) Gerling, Mrs. William (Rose) Burian and Mrs. Crawford (Helen) Allen, all of Edwardsville and Mrs. Mildred Moehle of St. Louis and eight grandchildren.
She was a member of the local Royal Neighbors, SVS Ladies Bohemian Lodge of Glen Carbon and was recently elected treasurer of the Shut-Ins club.
Friends may call at the Lesley Marks funeral home until 2 p.m. Wednesday when services will be held with the Rev. R.F. Tormohlen officiating.
Burial will be in the Buck Road cemetery.
Members of the Royal Neighbors lodge will have services at the funeral home Tuesday at 8 p.m.
