Isaac was born in old Pendleton Dist SC, the 2nd son of John & Mary Jane (Steele) Barnett. He was named after his maternal grandfather, Isaac Steele, Revolutionary Soldier, b. 23 Oct 1732 probably in New Castle Co, Del, d. 1803 Pendleton Dist SC. His siblings were Amos Barnett, Margaret Barnett Killgore, Elizabeth Barnett Sizemore, Jonathan Barnett, Jane Barnett Stephens, John Barnett, Riley Barnett, James Barnett, Grizzel Barnett Woods, William Barnett, Anderson Barnett, and Wesley Barnett.
There is some question as to whether Isaac had 2 wifes, one before 1849 and one after. He is the father of at least 8 children: Mary Jane, Caroline Dililia, Elizabeth, John William, Liddia, Mandy, Martha, and Thomas Wesley.
In addition to SC, Isaac lived in Benton Co AL, Cobb Co GA, and Calhoun Co AL, before spending his final days in Blount Co AL.
